1954 F100 bed assembly

I am a new 1954 f100 owner and am looking for some advice and photos regarding assembling my truck bed. I have new sides and crossmembers from NPD and appreciate any information offered. My truck did not have a bed that I could look at and copy the reassembly.

The repro parts sellers are buying the parts from Mar-K (mar-k.com) who repro's the complete bed and individual parts. Mar-K also sells the wood and is located in OKC

The pic in the 1948/56 catalog of the 1953/56 bed is poor. The 1957/63 catalog has a much better pic.

Thank you for the quick response and diagrams. I do have an additional question though. I noticed the 56 diagram contains what appears to be more crossmembers than mine. I thought my 54 had a front, rear and two middle crossmembers. Am I correct or do I have to dip into the piggy bank and buy some more? Thank you again.

53 thru 56 are the same...that is if you have a short bed. How is your header panel? The reason I ask is that most are either rusted out at the bottom or beat up pretty badly due to load shifting and stuff banging against the front of the bed.

The diagrams are of F350 beds so they do have more crossmembers.

6 1/2' beds have the fewest cross members, 8' beds have more and the exclusive to F350 9' Express bed has the most cross members.

If equipped with the optional exterior left side spare tire carrier, the 6 1/2' and 8' beds rear fender has a cut-out for the spare tire.

The 9' F350 Express bed is longer in front, doesn't use a cut-out fender, its spare mounts directly to the bedside.

Thanks for all the help. Each of the replies are truly appreciated. I really love this style and year truck and will surely need more help as the process progresses.
