2003 Explorer Won't Start
It was driving fine last night. We've had a cold snap (it's -15C right now) so maybe that has something to do with it?
It cranks hard but doesn't fire, like it's not getting fuel.
Interesting clue: when I use the remote to lock the doors/arm the alarm, the horn sounds twice, which usually means that the doors aren't closed properly. Obviously I've made sure all the doors and gates are closed properly. I only mention this because it started doing this once it started not starting. Makes me think that it's something to do with PATS but the red dash light that indicates the alarm is armed isn't flashing fast, just the usual one blink per second.
I've checked the fuses in particular 15A fuel pump fuse, looks fine.
Put a bottle of gasline antifreeze in the tank.
Checked the inertia switch by the passenger kick panel and pushed it but it hadn't appeared to have popped.
I even peeled back the cover over the security module (rear passenger seat belt area) and ensured that the wiring harness didn't get wiggled loose or anything, as earlier this week I had that open so I could get the code for the keyless entry off of it.
At this point I'm suspecting fuel pump? It just turned 140,000KM yesterday. As a last ditch effort I've just disconnected the negative battery terminal and am letting it sit for 15 mins but otherwise I'm looking at a tow to a service shop... any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
