Out if curiosity, do you have a budget in mind for what you're willing to spend? Also, what part of the country do you live?
I noticed you have 3:73 gears in your v10. How do you like them? I think thats what I have and feel like I could use more power at 2k rpm. I was expecting more when I purchase the truck because I had driven a 1 ton van that was really torquey.

I don't want to hijack this thread too badly. But...

Yes, I do have 3.73. They do "ok" but I sure as heck wish I had 4.56 gears. My tow/haul weight isn't really all that much compared to some others on here. But I very routinely have to haul from 2500' elevation up to 6000-8000' and speeds are usually 45-60mph (very rarely does my truck see anything over 65-70mph). I definitely notice the decrease in performance as I get higher up in elevation. 4.56 gears won't solve the issue of thin air, but they will effectively give my truck a 25% advantage (4.56 are geared 25% higher than 3.73), and the engine will be higher up in the RPM range where it's happier.

PM me if you want more of my opinions.

I really like my 4.10 but I could have had 4.30's if I wanted to when I ordered my '08, but I'm real satisfied with the 4.10's. I tow a 31' Airstream that is about 8800 loaded and it tows just fine.

I have a 2005 F350 CC Dually 4x4 with the V10. 140K on the odometer. I used this truck almost exclusively for towing and hauling. We tow a 32' 11,000lb trailer bumper-pull. Living in Seattle, most of our towing is over some hill or pass, so really working the rig.
Mileage? Bad. 12mpg unloaded on the hwy. 6mpg towing.
Reliability? Awesome, never had an issue. Just change the fluids.
Compared to diesel? I have a lot of buddies we camp with that have 7.3, 6.0, and 6.4. In general, all of us have plenty of power to tow heavy stuff. That said, yeah, the 6.0 and 6.4 can pull me on the hills ever so slightly. But all my pals with diesels have some version of chips and exhaust, and all these guys have also spent thousands more than I have in repairs and issues.
Not saying diesels aren't cool, they are. But the V10 is quiet, pulls hard, and has served me really well. Oh, and I paid about $8,000 less than the same equipped rig with a diesel.
Hope that helps for those curious.
