Advice on front brakes '78 F-250 4x4

My haynes manual only describes how to do an F-150, and the blow up diagram I looked at online for an F-250 shows that Ive got to completely dismantle the locking hub assembly to change the brake pads?!?!?! This cant be right........ Is it?

Im no stranger to doing disc brake jobs, but Ive never done a brake job where I needed to completely take apart a hub to relace shoes and hardware.

IS THERE A SIMPLER WAY?

thanks.

If you are going to change just the pads, you knock out the caliper key and install the new pads. For turning the rotor, you do have to take the hub apart, just like the f150

Agree... pad change is easy. Pull the lock bolt for the key, punch out the key and pull the calipers. If the wheel bearings haven't been serviced for a while... well its not a bad idea to pull the hub to clean/inspect/repack bearings. Still, not necessary for pad change.

Yes I think you read past a stopping point for replacing the brakes to removing the rotor.

Remember anti-siez on the lock bolt for the key and do not over torque it.
