Sounds like a dead hole. A compression check would tell you for sure, but I'd say a rebuild/reman/junkyard motor are in his near future.
The amount of missing bolts is scary. Time to check everything else on the truck before something else breaks. Having a few bolts left over when working on cars was tolerable up until about the 70's models. After that, you're just asking for trouble, and apparently he's found it.

Call Tom Wilkie at Make it Fit Motorsports is Lewisville. Master ford mechanic that has his own shop with his son. Specialize in ford diesel but I bet he can help you Google it for the number. Great work and extremely trustworthy. They have done me right

Just thought I would say hi to everyone! I got rid of my 07 F150 a year ago and this past weekend picked up my second Ford! She is a little older and I am just getting to know her but my '50 F1 sure turns some heads!
