1976 Headlight Retaining Ring

I have a 76 F100 Ranger where the joint on my headlight retainer ring broke and was wondering if anyone knew where to get another one online. I have seen plenty of retaining rings for older Fords on ebay, but am worried that the screw configuration is not the same. Can anyone tell me if these are pretty universal?

Yup. The 7-inch ring is pretty much universal among Fords of the era... try a Mustang parts house like NPD, CJ Pony Parts, Dallas Mustang Parts, etc.

Thanks for your help! I tried to JB Weld it back together, but it's so cold I had no luck.

@elkarcher1716 Thank you for the offer, but I went ahead and ordered from Dennis Carpenter. I was in a hurry because it's my daily driver.

I just replaced both of mine . Got them in town for $10 each . One at O'riely ,one at Carquest . They each only had one in stock . I was changing my headlamps to halogen and both retainers were already apart at the spot weld . I may have found them cheaper , but they were close and easy .

My truck appears to have one OE and one re-pop. The OE appears to be stainless with 3 screw holes in the correct position. The repop is steel with (cheap) chrome plating. The repop has several sets of holes for different configurations. One set works on the dent.

I had them off recently for headlight replacement with Halogens. The repop was rusty and the OE was in good shape. Aggressive cleaning (scotchbrite+chrome cleaner+wax) got the repop looking decent and I re-installed.

Bottom line I would probably try to re-do the spot weld on an original before replacing with plated mild steel... or make sure any new repop is stainless.

I talked to a buddy about tig welding them or something . He said it would be a waste compared to cost of replacements . He owns a weld shop ... He said as much . So , I bought new ones for $10 each .
