Need some help with instrument cluster
I am the proud owner of a brand spanking new 2013 6.7 F250 XLT CCSB. I have been on this site for almost 2 years researching everything there is to learn about this beast, and I feel I haven't even scratched the surface.
I opted getting the XLT because I am not a big fan of all the packaged options, so mine is missing some minor things that I plan to add - like uplifter switches, just read about the electronic dual zone HVAC controls which made the list, I always do aftermarket Navigation so I didn't opt for factory version, but I have never seen anything regarding the most important one for me.........the 4.2" LCD Information center.
I will apologize in advance, but my search terms never yielded any results that touch on this topic. Can this swap be accomplished.
I found this dealer (ButmanFordParts.com) in Ypsilanti, MI and they show the 4.2" LCD as a part to order (no part number mind you) for $296 but is it compatible? If so, what additional parts (if any) are needed?
I want to convince myself that the XLT, Lariat, Platinum trims are all wired the same and its just a matter of adding the right component, maybe an adapter or bracket and off you go.
If anyone has done this or can point me to a thread, post or site I would be greatly appreciative.
Thanks in advance
Jeff

The internals are there to swap it, but once you unplug the system you have to take the truck to a Ford dealer for a Master Reboot Reset. You could probably pull it off if you do it, tow the truck to the dealer(not yours) and just ask them to do that to start the truck. When you venture that far into stuff, just make sure your careful about what you do, it's not hard, just some dealers don't like it. Let us know if you do it! For the Nav there is a thread on here about the sweet Kenwood one.

I've always understood that manufacturers will use one generic format part such as a wiring harnesses, to cut down costs. The dash is a good example with certain features. My 2010 has the most retarded cubby to the right of the steering column that is absolutely useless. The cubby is used as an ash tray in certain trucks. Also, ever owned a vehicle that had dummy buttons on the dash? I'm sure it's for a model of that same vehicle that utilizes that space for a functioning button.
