Apology to Bill (Number Dummey)
Bill, I did not know that I was doing the wrong thing with my message yesterday. I am new to this whole computer deal. I was not knowingly doing wrong. I will try to never do that again. I am fortunate that my new wife is knowledgeable with this tool (the computer). I am writing to you by pressing the "new thread" ( I must not have done that yesterday) button. So, I have a '65 F-100, I really enjoy the truck. There have been many "adventures" with it. On of the adventures was one day the shifter cane started to spin. I had to pull over. The pin (7B125 -A) had sheared off!!
So I found 2nd. and limped home. FORTUNATELY the sheared off pc. did no damage to anything. I made a new pin using a phillips screw driver. It was just the right size. When I pushed out the remaining pin I could see where the end of the pin that was in the cane was squared off. So, I took my 4" grinder and cut off the Phillips end of the to be pin. I then carefully sq'd off the end for 1/4" to 5/16". Then I cut it to length. The shift pattern is much tighter now.
I saw in your pics you sent to a guy where the pin (7B125-A) was all round, there was no sq-d end. I am wondering: would you know why my pin had a sq'd end? I, too am wondering: when was the T-98 first introduced? What year was the T-98 that I am enjoying now made (approx)? Thank You, I hope you and yours are warm today. It has been VERY cold here in West. N.C., Cheers, Pete

You don't owe me an apology.
I merely pointed out that as a you another members thread (inre to a 1965 F100 3 M/T shift ****) when you asked this 7B125 T-18/T-98 4 speed shift lever question.
COTT-7B125-A .. Trunnion (roll pin) 5/8" long ~ 1/4" O.D. / Retains shift lever in place, visible within shift tower threads when shift lever retainer cap is removed.
Applications: 1960/64 T-98 & 1965/72 T-18 (except 1972 F100/350).
As you can see in the parts catalog pic, trunnion (roll pin) is round.
