Heater Blower motor not coming on

Just tried to turn the heater on first time in 5 years truck has been a project heater wasnt removed but all wires under dash and under hood were " cleaned up " and re wrapped by a previous owner. I have found a few problems that he hid in the taped up looms so im just looking at where to start trying to narrow down the culprit before I replace the blower.

Sounds like a bad blower motor if a good ground and power directly to motor.

Not too bad. I pulled the heater box to replace mine. Gave me a good reason to clean it out.

Does that have to been done? Or can it just be done at fire wall? If done from cab do u have to pull the heater hoses

Take a close look at the firewall, (top edge of the pic, to the right of the voltage regulator) do you see any way to remove the motor with cage attached to it? even with out the cage attached there is a flange in the way.

Sorry to say nope, all you see at the firewall is the motor sticking out, you have to pull the heater box.

Non a/c truck easy, pull the glove box and do a pic tutorial for the group....might as well replace the heater core since you are right in there.

If not it will start to leak next week...at least that is my luck.

There are three nuts that you remove from the engine side of the firewall to remove the heater box, it drops down under the dash. And you do need to disconnect the heater hoses.

It's actually pretty easy. Just got done replacing mine yesterday. Two bolts by the blower and one behind the engine and you just pop it out. I'd suggest disconnecting the control cables and just take the whole box out. Just take out the globe box to get a better angle on things.
