Exclamation PO'd at the PO Ignition system question HELP PLEASE

Morning y'all,
Apparently i am a gluten for punishment. When i got my 77 the under hood wiring by the distributor was hacked so to get it home I wired in a points distributor, it ran and ran well so i left it there. Long story short i sold the truck to my buddy who decided that points were old and no good when he couldn't set his new set properly. Well he cut the wires to the coil and pulled the distributor so i am now helping him try to put in an original duraspark unit. WE have the ICM hooked up to the proper plugs and all the wires colors from the engine harness matched the distributor plug wire colors so those we soldered and heat shrink so that plug is back. My issue is the color wire my wiring diagram shows as being coil (-) is green/yellow stripe and has 9.6v flowing through it. SO could somebody please guide me to what dang wire i need to hook the coil (-) to thank you.

The coil negative (-) terminal goes directly to the GREEN wire of the ignition module. It also goes to the tach input, if you have one. With the key ON but engine OFF, the coil positive (+) terminal should read about 6 to 7 volts. The coil negative (-) terminal should read zero volts.

The other explanation is that the module is not grounded properly. The BLACK wire of the ignition module should connect to the 3-terminal connector coming from the distributor, where the ground is located.

jUst guessing here, but if the distributer is plugged in and not running you could read voltage on the negative wire when it's not pulsing..
