. Sounds like as much or more work as putting the Ranger cab and bed on a Lincoln Town Car frame/suspension/DOHC engine...

. I would have bent/cut and welded the oil pan away from the headers... don't like to dent headers...

Ranger on full size frame is not that bad to do but we will see.

Headers I won't dent just heating and pulling them away. The pan where its contacting would be more of a pain to go through right where the baffle and everything comes together.

Well it is a long time coming but, the 400 is sitting in the frame of the ranger project E4OD behind it, open headers, carb intake, duraspark. Put power and fuel to it, wow that thing is angry it will rev right now runs really good. Oil pressure with the plugged off #1 lifter feed, the grooved and clocked cam bearings comes in at 55-58psi.
I need to decide if I am going to keep the ford EFI, I want to go distributorless, and after talking to some gm LS guys very simple to swap to their stuff. Also what transmission E4OD it is there needs built, or 4L80e, buy the valve body and gear set(2.97 1st, 2.24 2nd, 1.57 3rd, 1.18 4th, 1.00 5th, .75 6th). Along with setting up my exhaust no one around here does mandrel bent anything.

I need a vacation

It is together and down to wiring it test fire it and pull it from this chassis, exhaust is all tig welded now. I am down to dumb things, 1/4-28 flanged nuts for valve cover studs, not complicated but no one stocks except for one place that is still waiting for a restock 2 months later .
Those hooker headers took a rosebud, a port-a-power and drilling tapping the work bench but they clear the oil pan now.
Somewhere I have a garage in there, I want this projects(ranger and F150) done. Just a update, .

I like the looks of that. Adapting the trans to the engine, what did use to space the flywheel, and how did you make sure the converter is contacting the splines in the correct position?

I don't have the converter in it right now, I will be pulling it all apart again to verify that after EFI fire up. I know way back when the swapping to a 460 swap away from a 351M/400 there was no magic there so all should go well. we will see. Harness is laid out on it now just to test I need to get it going soon.
