1996 f-150 xl

Hey guys, been an eventful day here.
I went out to Altona Manitoba this morning, bought myself a 96 F-150 XL.
Will post some pics when I get to my computer.
Love this truck so much It has a 300 I6 and a
5speed standard transmission only a 2WD though.
Have driven about 170km today on a little less than 3/8 a tank.

Nice truck you have there. What are your plans for it?

Looks sharp! Identical to my truck except for the topper and the chrome bumper!

I-6 and 5sp and 4x2 is great for fuel mileage.

Thanks Well first thing to do is take her to a shop get a few small things for a safety, nothing much been quoted at $370.00

Then get plates fix the rust when the weather is nicer, sort of want a 2" lift so i can put the 33" tires from my 78 on it thats just a maybe though.

Thanks its in really good shape for the year especially around here got a good deal on it too

It's excellent on fuel, gets around the same mpg if not better than my 06 ranger with a 3.0L auto.

By my geographic standards, your truck is horribly rusty. (We're lucky enough to have scads of rust-free OBS Fords out here in California.) As for the 33s...I've noticed a lot of threads lately concerning poor MPG, and larger tires have been culprits. What gear ratio do you have?

The roads out here are sanded and salted like crazy……

The 33's are only just an idea, as for the gear ratio i have no idea.
Travelling at 100kph/60mph in 5th gear my tach reads 1550rpm.

The door tag (drivers side b pillar) contains a bunch of codes indicating how your truck was initially equipped, including the ratios. Post the codes, or a clear photo of it and somebody will pop up with the info.

Your first "mod" should be about 5 or 6 hundred pounds over the rear axle based on the snow in those pics. nice lookin truck.

A good set of snow tires is all you need. Mind you, I likely have about 100-200 lbs of snow and ice in my bed. His topper should be giving him enough weight.

Thanks love this truck
The snow isn't that deep around here right now. Parked in a small 12" drift at work, when I went on lunch I just crawled through it in 1st gear no problem

I was actually gonna sell the cap in a bit. Have a headache rack from my fathers old 79 ford I want to put on.

About all I could figure out from your door sticker is that you have a 5-speed, 5310 springs up front, and 5560 out back. Looks like your axle is a 2.73:1 open diff--which would explain your low RPM at 100 KPH. (My truck, in fifth gear at 65 MPH, turns over 2,500 RPM.) I'm still looking into your paint color code.

Manufactured 5/96... That's one of the last to roll off the line. Very sweet truck.
