headers question

I had posted before to swap or not to swap a 390 out insted of my 360 but either way I would like to buy headers for my truck I kno ford exhaust systems are really restrictive and I'm not looking for anything insane just a little horsepower bump and better running . Now LMC magazine sells a " true 4x4 dual with headers and turbo mufflers" I was wondering if those are worth a crud I'm not a fan of glasspacks and my dad has a 73 dodge power wagon with a hopped up molar 360 and turbo muffler and it retains that low v8 rumble I like it. But does it flow ok . I currently have a flowmaster exhaust from stock ford manifolds to 2 to 1 piping and its nearly making me crazy. I mean it sounds cool to maybe a highschool kid trying to be noisy but I can't even hear myself think whilst driving. And while it warms up in the morning I know people the next block over can here me there's good sound and just strait stupid . All I want is a good header system and dual exhaust and muffler system that will deliver. Good sound and a hp bump with good flow I don't need to hear every single exhaust stroke and wake the neighbors and anything u could give me a price on would be great but I'm really looking at this LMC system

Consider a local, well established muffler shop to get info from........You want a little power, but you also want a respectable sound level. Im guessing that not all Flowmaster mufflers have the same sound characteristics.......assuming that your existing muffler has a part number, you ought to be able to compare it with other models......for that matter, are you sure you dont have exhaust leaks, or a damaged or even counterfeit muffler?

I wish I had a shop to go to that was close by but saldy I live in too small of a town and yes I'm sure there are no leaks or problems with the current exhaust its just far too loud part of the problem I think is the exhaust ends about 8 inches from where the pipes meet then muffler but even then . I know what leaks sound like and I've even checked but its all ok but whether its the muffler or not. I think I would still like a dual system lol for the slight power increase unless its so minor it wouldn't be worth it in which case ya l just swap the muffler out

Sometimes you can get lucky at a muffler shop. They do like to re-sell exhaust systems removed from newer vehicles. It's a win-win most of the time.

I would suggest Dyno Max Super turbos in the offset in/out style. Nice tone and good flow for a turbo. I have used them on several 360's, on a 460 and even my 05 V10. If you plan on having a shop bend it up I would say use 2 1/2" You can also use mandrel bent pieces and weld it up yourself. 2 1/4 - 2 1/2 (esp if you go 390 later)

2x with the sizing described above described by V10... And if you're willing to fab your own, then Speedway Motors is a really good source for a tubing kit... only $140.... Jegs & Summit are in the $200 to $220 range.

You can quiet down Flomasters with a resonator . No power loss . I have done it on different systems . Talk to Flowmaster about before or after placement for tone .
