I can't figure that out either. I'm assuming that you're talking about the last pic with the glowing "EXIT" sign above the car. It looks like the driver is still in the car, and is that the guy who was run over laying on the floor? Or something else? Why is that person snapping pictures instead of trying to help them?

The last item on the check list when racing the NASCAR sportsman series , Hooter's pro cup series and 4 yrs . on the FLA. FASCAR super late model series was to check the WOT ( wide open throttle ) before the car went out for the first practice of the day . EVERY TIME !!! Some idiots at Lakeland , a 3/4 mi . track where when you wrecked you wrecked hard . 140 mph straightaways did not check the wot . First time at full throttle down the front straight into the wall at full speed ,with a brand new car powder coated frame .JUNK

Perhaps the photographer was also an attorney.

I'm sorry but IMHO this is not a wot issue. The driver put his foot on the wrong pedal and the faster he went the harder he pushed.

While I agree with you that it there was no reason for them to be checking WOT in a car show, why do you think the driver hit the accelerator? Did you read a news article? Were you there?

Couldn't the accelerator have stuck at low throttle? I would imagine if that car had been at full throttle (even for a few yards), it would have completely exited that building instead of getting caught on that door jamb.

You are probably right! I didn't notice the guy in the car...

Even with that engine, the brakes should be able to hold it dead still with near-WOT. As a friend commented, "Maybe being able to write a check for a custom rod doesn't qualify you to drive it"

You are right. I've no idea what really went wrong but I the eye witnesses know and I really doubt the reporters got anything right so that kind of leaves it wide open to speculation. I still think it's much more likely driver error than mechanical failure. And sorry for the injury - hope he heals up soon.

Also, maybe treat these like a firearm, always keep 'em pointed down range.

Could be that the Arena had a policy that all cars be moved by Arena employees

What ever the cause, that had to be very embarrassing. It's fortunate that the injuries sustained were not serious. AS for the photog. it's like Americas funniest videos. I am always amazed at the people who take pics of there kids hurting themselves, thinking its funny, instead of helping them. I've seen some that could have been very serious.

That door frame is stronger than you think. Looks like it cracked the frame in 2 places and moved the front axle enough that it's off the front spring is no longer attached... Look where the other headlight ended... Bottom left...
