so is barn find original seen as rat rod ? 50 F1

Guys, i stoped at vintage ford truck parts store today, To pickup a few parts, i stoped there last year when i had my first p.o.s rusted 48 F1, the owner of the store asked if i still had my F1, i told him i sold it, and got a cleaner 50, i showed him photo, told him it was pretty much rust free, i told him i was keeping it 100 % original the way i found it, He said why would you keep it that way, it going look like a damn rat rod, and the paint wasnt original and kept picking out things that arnt rigth with my truck, so is me keeping it the way i found it rat rod ? Im keeping the 226 and three speed trans, I just wonder if hes upset that i have the truck and not him, ive ran into a few guys like that so far...

"rat rod" has come to mean any vehicle that is rusty and crusty. If you like it rusty and crusty leave it. I prefer a nice shiny paint job myself. IMO, even a coat of hardware store paint is better than rust, but again, that's just my opinion.

I've found that the only counter to annoying folks who need your continuing presence is a simple question: Would you prefer that I just left? Getting your chops busted by the guy who wants to sell you parts isn't cool. Don't let him. No need to be rude, just direct.

Don't let this guy get to you, Cody. Some people in life get their jollies by cutting down other people. It could be jealousy, it could be envy, it could be that he's never had the pleasure of having fun with a project car, but has all the opinions and ideas of how one 'should' be built, if he ever got off his backside and done something constructive. Enjoy your barn find and build the truck you always wanted.

In my opinion that wouldn't be a rat rod. To me a rat rod is somewhat a dyslectic collection of junk that has no actual value so why not screw, weld, tape or paste all the stuff you can't get rid of in a yard sale to a derelict vehicle. haha, sorry rat guys this is only my opinion.

Next time ask him how much a new bed, doors, running boards, fenders front and rear is for your truck? Then say that's why my truck is staying the way I got it!
