She LIVES!!!! I'm so excited i just have to share
I got this two or so weeks ago. 1977 f100 flareside with the 351m. Paid $750. Rust free except some surface rust on the roof. It had been sitting for about 5 years. I'm the second owner and it has 81,000 miles. Anyways after sitting for 5 years every gas hose on this thing was shot, so was the fuel pump and the gas tank. The carb. was off but the guy said that he had just rebuilt it but hadn't bolted it on (should have clued in at this) . Replaced fuel filler hoses and gas tank and all the lines. It was a major pain in the butt. Anyways the carb has been rebuilt but something is wrong either with the float or needle in that it just keeps on filling up with gas. I went on craigslist and found a replacement carb. off of a 1978 f250 that could bolt right on. The guy was upgrading to something and sold me the carb and intake for $40. Seemed like a decent deal. Cleaned the carb and bolted it on this afternoon and the beast lives after 5 years. I'M STOKED. The engine pures like a baby. The only issue until it sees the road again is figuring out all of the vacuum lines. There seems to be a gazillion. I"m down to 3 ends that I can't figure out but as soon as I do I'm good to go. Anyways I just wanted to share cause.....well I wanted to. I'll post pictures as soon as I figure out how.

congrats man it sounds like quite the truck, most likely the problem with the crab that you had lies in the clip that holds the float in place has slipped off or is installed wrong this is a 5min. fix. the clip is a small wire and it often gets side ways and doesn't allow the float to close the valve. i had the same problem with a carb i rebuilt u just need to bend the clip so it cant slip back.

Well, vacuum lines are cut to length...If you have the lines, and a compatible carb often times you can see how far each line reaches easily. Its a matter of elimination......Better still, get a detailed manual. You will need one at a later date anyway......OHHHH, almost forgot, a hearty congratulations on reviving a truck thats been sitting that long, that can be a real challenge.
