Raptor is 411 hp and 424 torque
F250 SD is 385 hp and 400 torque
...........so anybody know the difference?
Probably half of that is the fact the Raptor is rated on premium fuel and the Superduty is rated on 87 octane. The engineers said the sd is close to 400 hp running on premium. I suspect the rest is just tuning and maybe cams.
I cannot find the exact article but 2006lariat is on the right path...not necessarily different rpm testing but it is because of the class of truck. Exhaust manifolds are slightly different however for a possible -5 difference in hp. look at this Whipple Industries whipple can do it. In fact for overall longevity a superduty would probably last longer because of a slightly stronger trans/torque converter setup. shortly after my s/c 05 f150's engine puked the trans went out. I would love a 6.2 f350 w/ 4.30 gears. Throw it in 4hi and I doubt many if any vehicles on the road would get you off the line.
The raptor 6.2 and SD 6.2 have different cams...... This is mostly because of the TQ curve. I don't know the cam specs for each but I would guess the SD cams profile is more towards lowers grunt whereas the raptors is for more Hp up high.
I have been waiting to hear from someone that puts a SC on an SD..... No one has taken te plunge yet.
I love my '12 SD but I could always have more power. I think a SC kit would be as much as a 6.7 option but the gasser would still require much less maintenance.
