Bob, your a lucky guy, at least your kids left you something to repair that didn't need a frame straightner to get the job done. Both of my kids first cars left nothing left but parts cars to sell when they were done. For the last two years I have been banging, welding, sanding, sanding, sanding and painting on the 48 and I am ready to hang up the going out of business sign.

Why are you ready to go out of business? Sounds like you have plenty of work.

I guess that I am just ready for the body work on the 48 to be over. I am ready to drive it and have some fun.

I really feel for all the guys on here that have tons of body work to do. It takes a lot of commitment to hang it there for sometimes years before you can enjoy the driving aspect of truck ownership. For some, I know the building is the fun, I like both but deplore body work.

I love doing body work but I must admit the biggest enjoyment is the hunt. I love going to look at parts trucks, dragging them home and tearing them apart. The body work is fun because it's kind of like a magician, I can take a piece of junk and make it look new again.

One more part of my business plan for my charity body shop is how things are financed. Like the other day. I bought the VW replacement parts on eBay. I had a balance in my PayPal account, I figure it's safer to park the money there instead of having it transferred to our joint bank account. When it's transferred to the joint bank account the money is usually absorbed into household finances and I never see it. Well, this time when I went to pay for the parts eBay forced me to use funds from the balance in my PayPal account. OK, I repaired the car, spending about 10 hours, or more which I have found out I donated to the cause. I pretty much knew that, but when I went to get reimbursed for the cost of the parts I was informed by the home finance minister that the money was collected and put into the home fund to pay bills. I informed the finance minister that the money I used was mine not from the general fund. Well, that didn't sit well with her and it got rather heated. I finally did get my money but it wasn't pretty. From now on I have to do a better job of keeping the money I get isolated.

Most of my friends have separate checking accounts, suppose this is the reason. Fortunately I haven't had to do the same, wife has no problem spending money on the 52 or 56. Glad you got your funds back

Bob,

Finance ministers are known to not have a sense of humor about funds.

We have separate checking accounts. The bulk of my paycheck goes into her acct with a small piddly sum going into mine. My company gave out a Xmas bonus this year. The way the accounts are set up it all went into her acct. When I asked her if I could have some of my bonus you would think I wanted her to lop off an arm or something. She put me off and put me off, I asked several times and then the money had to be used to buy college text books for the kids.....agh

I'm with Bob, you just gotta keep truck funds separate...LOL

Bobby
