Damn right, Pat! Jennifer, a freshman at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande, is learning a new Triple Jump technique from her coach. She's jumping from her opposite (left) foot instead of her strong (right) her foot. She jumped over 34' at the track meet on Saturday. 34' is over a foot less than what she normally jumped starting from her right foot, so we'll see where this will lead.
The great part about this jump; she broke the previous EOU record by over a foot! I am a VERY proud papa. Jennifer was jumping consistently in the 35' - 36' distance, and she did have some 38' jumps during practice in high school. That's how she earned a Track and Field scholarship in the first place.
When Jenn gets accustomed to this new technique and builds her strength, I see no reason why she can't consistently jump in the 38' - 39' distance. She's done a few 38' jumps in practice, so I know she can jump that distance. I see no reason, and neither does her coaching staff, why she can't break the 40' distance mark during her college career. Did I mention she's only a freshman? Hehehe.

Thanks, Pat. I'd like to see that, too. Jennifer has plans to try out for the Summer Olympics team. I'm thinking she'll do pretty well once she learns this new jumping technique and builds her strength.
The 2016 Summer Olympics will be held in Rio de Janeiro. She'll still be in college during that time, so I'm not sure what the process is or even how to get things started. I'm sure her coaches can help out with the information gathering process.

This year is different. My friends are bringing the food this year. It's gonna be fun.
My stitches (5 this time) were removed Thursday. I can take "real" showers again. Woo hoo! I still have to use the walker and shuffle-step to get around. The doc doesn't want me over-stretching the sole of my foot. If things started ripping now, it would be bad, so I'm gonna behave, for now.
