split exh mannies vs factory

Howdy Inline sixers, I Drive a '65 F-100 with a 240 ci 6. I need to hear from people who have experience/knowledge on removing the stock exh mnfld and using split mnflds instead. Thanks to John Smith3524, I know of this site. Iam wondering about the thickness of the Alum block that will bolt up under the stock intake.( once the stock exh mnfld is removed) What would be a thickness that would transfer heat but not be too thick(causing vapor lock in the warmer months?) I will use Alum and drill/tap the inlet/outlet openings. Thanks

Vapor lock is not a problem with the heat plate. With engine coolant running through it there is actually a dual purpose accomplished. One is heat for the intake. The other is cooling for the intake. Your engines thermostat determines the heat range for the coolant running through the plate just as it does for the engine.

A 3/8"-1/2" plate would work just fine.
