74 F100 EFI swap project

Hello everybody.

Just thought I would write about my project. As money gets tight we (the wife) decided we need to consolidate vehicles. So, the 2000 Excursion is up for sale and I need to make my $200 74 F100 more road worthy, and capable of pulling the camper. This will include sealing the cab, you know fixing gaping holes in floor and new seals. Also making it go down the road better.

Was originally just going to do an AOD swap, but got a 93 E150 as a complete running donor vehicle. So now I am thinking a complete efi engine and tranny swap. Haven't completely decided as it sounds like speed sensors are in the rear end on the van. Decision, decisions.

Oh and there is a jeep in the garage right now needing a tranny rebuild, so alot of this project might be done in the gravel driveway.

Will try to get pics in garage in the next few days.

You might *possibly* be able to hook up to a sensor on the trans, but that is dependant on the availability of a speed sensor hole in the transmission. I know the ZF from the 92 didn't even have the hole. 92 and up did go from the speed sensor in the rear end, as did the speedo. That made my Cummins conversion easier, as I didn't have to deal with the speedo hookup. The other side of that, you will have a problem with a speedo in the dash of the truck.

been trying to find location of speedo plate. I assume it is driver side close to tail end.

Been pondering putting complete wiring harness and guages from van into 74. Been driving truck to haul junk for my parents so haven't had time to pull IP out and see if there is any possible way to make van cluster fit. hopefully have some time toward end of the week.
