35, 38. it is still better than the 25 or so that i currently have in the 02 diesel.
the parts truck i have has the larger tank in it, but it is a gas truck. i just was not sure if the gas and diesel tanks were the same or if the larger tank would fit in the short bed trucks.
i also figured it is easier to ask than to pull the bed and tank only to find out it will not work.

99-07 gas or diesel all short bed trucks have a 29 gallon tank all long bed trucks have a 38 gallon tank, I'm pretty sure this also this applies to 08-10 trucks also.
The 35 gallon tank is on all 6.2 pickups regardless of bed length. The 6.7's are 26 for the short beds and 38 for long beds. I have seen I think it was on this site where someone put long bed tank in a short bed so it is possible.

Tanks
The 13 has a 26 in the short bed, I know this as I just replaced with a 50 gallon OEM Titan.
My dealer ship did not know or would not look into changing the tank size so the MTE would be right.
Thanks to a long time friend, who owns his own shop , I got it flashed. In the process he discovered 2other updates that should have been done with the last service. Looks like its back to the dealer one more time.

It depends on the year for tank size. My '06 V10 CCSB gasser had only a 28-29 gallon tank (I put almost 29 in it once regardless of what the book says) . If I was pulling our 5er, that meant ten minutes after a fill up, I was contemplating the next gas station stop. The 6.7 CCLB '11 has a 38 gallon tank plus much better towing mileage which means I can relax for a while between fill ups.
I believe that what you wont get and what I found in my research, is any kind of DOT certification from a manufacturer if you use an aftermarket diesel tank for gasoline. It was also another reason to trade up to the LB and diesel.
