2003 won't crank, starter is good

I have a 2003 f350 7.3 with 305,000. Went out to start it turned key and nothing happened. I have glow plug light, but the key will not engage the starter. I crawled under and jumped the starter with a screwdriver assuring the starter still works. All fuses appear to be fine.Any ideas?

Also a second I believe unrelated issue about three months ago every once in a while you would try to start and all it would do is crank. I am assuming a have an IPR problem mine has a little oil on it. Any suggestions?

I would like to get the cranking issue fixed and then I believe the IPR is the problem. Thanks for any help.

try starting in nuetral or gently holding the shifter up to park.

There is also a bosch style relay in the fuse box that could go bad.

Behind the passenger battery is a single connection where the older trucks had the fender mounted starter solenoid. It is one wire (yellow or green). When u turn the key, you should get 12 volts to one side of that and the other side hooks to the starter solenoid.

Do u even hear a cliick in the cab when u turn the key?

It seems like all the relays under the dash chatter when the key is turned.

I know it sounds odd, but try cleaning your battery terminals really well even if they look clean.

Very good advice this! My truck did the same thing. My terminals were well coated with protectant but the post and terminal were heavily corroded underneath.

I'll clean the batteries tomorrow.
I found out that my wire is good from the starter relay in the fuse box to the starter. I am not getting any power to the relay when i turn the key. I replaced the ignition switch with no change. keep the ideas coming much appreciated.

This sounds like dead batteries. Low voltage will also cause the crank but no start.
I would get the batteries tested.

I do not believe it is the batteries. I can "hot wire" if you will from the passenger battery to the wire that runs to the solenoid on the starter and the truck will start. I seem to have some issue between the key and the fuse panel. Thanks for the help. Still working on it.

Do the 03's have a firewall relay/solenoid? My 01 does. Trace the wire from the passenger side + terminal and see if it goes directly to the starter.

It cranks found the cranking problem. I had fuse number 113 blown but didn't appear bad until I checked each fuse individually by pulling them all.
I still have the starting issue which I believe is the ipr. It starts sometimes and sometimes it won't. It runs fine once you get it started. Its never had any dying issues or anything like that.
Thanks for all the help. see what I can get figure out.
