67 F100 horn help

The horn on my 67 quit working, but when I run 12 volts to the horn relay it still works. Any ideas what it could be and how to fix it?

Twist off your horn center in the steering wheel and check the contact spring.

You might have an aftermarket steering wheel that the horn button guts were not installed.

It's the original steering wheel and the horn button is the 3 spoke button....how do I get that off without breaking something?

Push and turn counter clock wise. There is a spring under the horn button.

The horn brush and insulator (C2OZ-13A821-A) fit into hole on the outside of the steering wheel, visible when the horn ring is removed.

The horn brush contains a thin copper wire that is notorious for snapping.

I'm not OP, but thanks, guys, for letting me know how to remove the horn center cap.

Could this be why my horn only works sometimes? I have to repeatedly press the horn and find that magical spot that will get it to work. Once found, it works sometimes, but since the truck is a daily driver I'd appreciate a horn that works.

If the horn brush copper wire snaps, the horn won't blow.

Does your truck have a horn button or horn ring?

You probably need a new brush. The part number ND listed above. The contact part of it has probably worn down too far. Also check the contact area of the back of the steering wheel that the contact rubs against. It may be all crudded up. Clean it and then smear some Silicone Dielectric Grease on it. While you got the steering wheel off check the T/S to be cracked, broken, etc. Note: about a year ago I bought a new switch from DC. IT DID NOT COME WITH A NEW BRUSH. Requiring a second order and a second freight charge.(Can you tell that ticked me off?)

This is one of the reasons I have not ordered some of the smaller things I need. I can't see buying a $2 part with $10 shipping. Waiting until I can afford to get everything at once.

Thank you. I'll look into it.

The C2OZ-13A821-A horn brush & insulator kit was sold by itself, not furnished with the T/S switch.

1967/72 F100/350: There are two different T/S switches:

C9TZ-13341-C .. T/S Switch: 1967/68 F100/350, 1969 F100/350 before serial number G30,001.

D0TZ-13341-B .. T/S Switch: 1969 F100/350 from serial number G30,001, 1970/72 F100/350.

1971/72 F100/350's have a two spoke steering wheel and vinyl horn pad.
