Ecoboost won me over

Hello all,

I just purchased a 2013 F150 Lariat, Ecoboost, 3.55/elocker, crew cab shortbed. I loved my old F250 but I wanted to get modern amenities, (nav, backup camera, sync) and get better fuel mileage F250 (12.5-13mpg). I almost bought a 2013 F250 with the 6.7 but it was an xlt with cloth interior and no backup camera or navigation. The 6.7 had a very impressive engine it was stout to say the least! The Ecoboost engine is amazing so much torque and tech, twin turbos, variable valve timing, Direct injection. I may use my old SCT tuner with new tunes to increase the fun factor....

I hope that the new truck can tow the trailer as well as the old truck. The New truck has a 9600# conv. trailer rating my old F250 has a 9300# rating. I tow a 8000# 26ft long travel trailer 7-8 times a year and a 5x10 utility trailer monthly.

The newer F150's feel like a big fast comfy crown victoria that can tow heavy and drive though snow, ice and mud.

I just ordered Husky floor liners and scheduled a line-x appt for new truck. I may put a slim line tool box in the back and call it finished. The new truck came with rear fender liners from the factory, it is a great feature that used to be standard on all trucks.

Congrats on your new truck!! It looks great and is the fastest color! The ecoboost will continue to impress you ESPECIALLY when towing!! You shouldn't have any problem towing that trailer. Welcome to the family.

I see your old F250 is lowered in rear towing that camper. You better let Tom help you with getting the right air bags to support the load and stabilize towing that camper..If it is heavy on the SD this F150 is gonna struggle on that tongue weight..The EB should do ok on towing but its gonna need some alterations to get it to perform its best!!

If you zoom in on the picture you will see he has the bed of the truck loaded up with stuff which is probably another reason for the squat. The F250's do squat with weight a bit anyway.

Crabhab...you will not be able to do that with your F150...as your payload will be much less.

I have four bicycles in the back of the pickup. I have an aluminum tool box loaded with crap in there too. My F250 was the 9600 GVWR truck it had light springs, no overloads. When I throw a ton of wood pellets in the F250 it was screaming.

I could have increased the tension on the WD hitch but my superduty didn't care. I know the F150 is lighter duty and has a much lower GVWR for truck payload. I will be at max GVWR and no where near my CGVWR with my camper setup. I may have to go with air bags on the back to handle the tongue weight of my camper. We may sell the camper and go with a boat so that might be a moot point.

The black metallic flake paint is awesome. Great color in sunlight. Lots of work to keep clean but worth it.

do yourself a favor and get that Xyillon stuff added to the paint now. It will save you hours/hours of hassle. I sold my Kodiak Brown cause it showed every scratch, swirl, water spot,dust..Too much up keep for me,, the price you pay for dark colors,, but if you got the energy that's cool, I went back to Ingot Silver. Not a fancy color but easy to care for..Just keep an eye on your GVWR on the F150. When you add people in cab and stuff in the bed it adds up quickly.. Good luck with your new truck..I towed a boat with my EB and did a nice job with it but the heavier you go you may want to look at air bags in rear..Enjoy!!
