IDS VCM for under $300?

There is an interesting write up on Ebay by a guy that says that he has
legitimate stuff and a contract or some thing like that.
Anyway one thing he was pointing out was the quality co the clones.
Acid core solder use for one and flow solder in place of gold circuit
traces.
I picked up a dead unit just to see what was there and this is what I found.
The socket for the wireless card is missing. All the traces are copper or
solder. ne up side the case was magnesium but not sealed. The cable to the
OBDII port seems to be nice and heavy. The USB to VCM cable was a joke.
This is where I also found acid core solder use. Nice a fuzzy, poor and ugly
solder joints.
Last but not least. Disc one was done on a light-scribe and the other two were
just plain old writable DVDs that you can pick up anywhere. They did not even do a
printed on label. Just scribbled it on with a sharpie.
The installation instructions. What a joke. They pack in an EXE file that is a self extracting
video. You would think that they could done a little better but the video was so out of focus.
Here is an example I found on Youtube for you to look at and get a good chuckle.
Then the last think is you have to apply a PATCH so that the software will work.
So in closing I think it should be shipped in a red box and have a fire extinguisher
attached to the box. Because it is so HOT (Stolen for the ones that need me to say it)

Not yet.
That acid core solder did it's magic on that
USE cable. All that thing does is convert the
USB to twisted pair network aka Ethernet 10baseT.
So once I get that fixed we will see.
The guy I got it from was trying to get it to work with Windows 7.
All I can find says that XP is where it is happy. Something about
the way the firewalls are with XP.
