What is this connector for?

Pulled the dash cover off and found this connector dangling and not hooked up to anything. I have the XLT model, so,

what is this connector suppose to go to?

Thanks,

Passenger side air bag disable switch (regular cab and supercab thing) so children don't end up getting smacked by an airbag while buckled into their government-mandated child seats during a deployment.

The crew cabs don't have that switch since most parents would put the child seats in the back.

With that disconnected, you should have had an airbag light illuminated on your instrument cluster and/or some annoying beeps when you started your truck.

If not, it's possible it came loose when you pulled your dash or, as was the case for me, the instrument cluster airbag bulb had been burnt out.

Good luck.

I've pulled the cover off a few times over the 2 years I've had the truck, and never had a beep or air bag light illuminate. I think I'll look at the Chilton's Manual and trace those wires out.

Thanks djed

Different software in the airbag module for the crewcabs.....it's not looking for a switch or bulb.

Cleatus, I'm looking in the Chilton's wiring diagram and it doesn't show an Air Bag circuit.

I'm taking a guess, but, that plug is bypassed because I have the Crew Cab. Right?

Thanks Pop.

I found in the manual Air Bag sliding contacts in the Cruise Control System for the 02 gas and diesel models, but, not the wiring colors of the plug in the picture.

Oh well, no big deal. No need to trace them wires.

Thanks

Rick,

Sorry for my oversight. Glad the others chimed in.
