Glove box
Was a locking (or latching) glove box door an option in 1956. Looks like there is cutout for a latch on the top front.

Yes. It should have a rectangular slot in stead of the small screw hole. I have one in my '54. If you need me to I can get a photo for comparison.

I have one in my 55, I thought they were an option for the custom cabs

The Deluxe cabs of 53 and 54 and the newly named Custom Cabs of 55/56 had the locking "dispatch box" as they were called. The standard cabs did not.
