My '97 F250HD cab w/160K miles is increasingly smelling like diesel exhaust, especially when it's cold here in Alaska. I see lots of posts on the 6.0l. Anyone have any trouble shooting tips for the 7.3l? Thanks in advance!

 

Your up pipes may be leaking if so the fire wall will have soot on it.

 

Check for exhaust leaks in your exhaust system. Also, are you sure it's exhaust you're smelling? Check your fuel pump to see if it might be leaking from the weep hole on the bottom of the pump.

yup that little puddle of diesel will drive my wife nuts, I don't even smell it. You might have a green puddle under the turbo.

 

I had this once. It turned out to be a hole in the downpipe.

 

I know mine is leaking from the passenger side up pipe where it goes into the turbo. Next big investment is bellowed pipes. I get the smell too but only when I'm warming it up
