Anyone have any numbers pulling a boat? I have a 20' Bay boat I pull to FL from time to time, and I'm curious what to expect (just got the truck this month). I got about 12ish mpg average out of my 2002 7.3L F250 2wd, with 3.73 LS Diff pulling it (Dallas, TX to SW FL). Just me & the unloaded truck on the highway, I got about 19 running 75-80, over 20 keeping it at 70 or below. Should I see similar numbers, or is that unrealistic?? I have a Limited 3.5L 4x4, 3.55 EL Diff...
EDIT: The numbers above were hand-calculated. I had no mpg display in my XLT.

Recently, I went through a tire change and the computer was supposed to have been reset for the current tires.
I went on a trip.
According to the F-150's display, I drove 377.6 total miles and used 25.4gal for an average 14.8 mpg. It was 98% highway driving with few stops.
I reset the display when I filled up before I left.
I did not note the odometer before I left.
However my GPS track shows 415.6 miles traveled. Bing Maps directions calculates 412.4 miles but does not include a few miles around the ranch. That is a fair size difference in mileage.
If I calculate mpg using the GPS distance and the displays fuel used, I get an average 16.4 mpg which is more like what I would expect.
The Service Manager at the dealer says, "I have yet to run across an inaccurate fuel economy display in any of our vehicles.." (Really!) and "the 18 inch wheel is not the stock tire. The 20 inch rims are. The 18 is put as your spare due to room under the back of the truck." More male bovine excrement?
I pointed out that the standard wheel is 18" wheels are stock and the 20" wheels are a $795 option according to my original window sticker.
I also pointed out the the LT275/65R18 spare is actually .16" larger in diameter than the P275/55R20s that were originally on the truck. So the spare being 18" to fit under the bed is more MBE.

I just did a round trip Omaha to Denver, 1080 total miles. Trip average was 14.5. I have a '14 EB screw max tow (3.73 and towing mirrors). Hit a pretty good 3/4 head wind the last 100 miles on the way there. It dropped my trip average from 14.2 to 13.6, so I was probably making less than 12 on that leg. Went from 13.6 to 14.5 on the return, so it must have been doing around 15.5. I ran 80 mph for 95% of the trip, so it wasn't as bad as it sounds. I had about 400 miles on the truck at the start of the trip.
