Do you have a means of testing for spark and fuel injector pulse when attempting to start the engine? Is the "Theft" or "Security" light on the instrument cluster flashing when you try to start the truck? When you removed the remote start system did you also remove the PATS bypass module?

The bypass module is the module that would need to be installed for the remote starter to work. It needs to bypass the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) from the factory. The flashing "Theft" light when the truck fails to start is an indication that the anti-theft system has experienced an unauthorized start attempt. I wouldn't be surprised if the bypass module installed for the remote start is causing the issues. It might not be shutting off so the PATS is seeing more than one programmed key and therefore refusing to allow the engine to start (shutting off fuel injector pulse).

Unfortunately I paid a well priced mechanic to figure out problem and fix it as I really didn't want to lay around for a day on the garage floor

Explorer Sport 2001 will not crank or start

I have an Explorer Sport 2001 that will not crank nor start.
I have replaced the following:
Crankshaft, camshaft sensors
Ignition coil
Ignition switch, neutral safety switch
Fuel filter
Fuel pump
Starter
The battery is less than 6 months old
Still, the car will not crank, will not start.
I have spark, voltage and fuel.
The PCM does NOT communicate with the scanner. I purchased a used PCM off of eBay. This one does communicate with a scanner and gives the following DTC codes:
P1120-- Throttle Position Sensor out of range
B1601-- Unprogrammed Pats Key
Since the car is in the Caribbean I can't tow it to a dealer.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to FTE. You should start a new thread with this issue.

If the codes you got are correct, there is your issue. The throttle position sensor will cause problems, but the engine should still crank. Has anyone fiddled with the sensor or anything in that area?

Unprogrammed PATS key: I think it should crank but it isn't going to start with this issue. Your new ignition switch--was it and the new key programmed? Do you still have the old one?

Was the new PCM from a 2001 Explorer, same engine and trans?

Check your ground cable and connections, as well as the positive side to the starter as well.
