When I go to fasten my seatbelt, it won't latch. I insert the male part into the female part that is mounted to the floor and it does not latch.

I can wiggle it around or push hard and sometimes it will latch, other times I give up and ride with the seatbelt wedged under my leg to make it look like its on.

I squirted some lubricant down the hole but it did not seem to make a difference.

Any ideas?

I find that many times this sort of issue is due to coins finding their way into the female receptacle.

Take the belt loose and see if you can get any money out of it.

 

I had a problem like that with one in the rrear and i just went after it with some wd40 and a small pick cleaned it up and works like a charm now

 

Don't know if its relative, but shortly after I bought my '01 (new), I got a postcard from Ford saying bring it in, you;ve got a problem with your seat belt(s?.

Have'nt done it but some day..............

 

my 04 does the same thing. i have to wiggle the release button to get it to latch.
