Vent in Transmission?

Vent in Transmission?
Hope all is well. I just recently picked up a 1995 F-350 (Western Hauler Package) Dually. I always wanted a truck from that year and especially the 7.3L Powerstroke. I'm a huge Ford guy and heard great things about those motors. I know next to nothing about them though lol!
ANYHOW...
Last week I replaced the water pump on my 1995 F-350 7.3L. While doing that I decided it would be a good time to change the oil also. While pulling the oil drain plug I noticed what seemed to be a vent in the transmission. It seemed to be leaking oil it seemed. Not too sure what it is. The oil seems to be at an alright level and same with the transmission. I've added some photos of what I'm talking about. Could anyone school me and throw some knowledge my way.
Appreciate the time!

That's just the flywheel inspection cover, totally external to the tranny. Any leak there is most likely from the top of the engine. First thing to do is determine whether it's oil or fuel. Also look in the engine valley for pooled oil or fuel.
The thing to be concerned with about that cover is the part way up at the top front; originally, there's a "lip" that juts forward toward the engine oil pan. Over time, with vibration/movement of the powertrain, the edge of that lip can come in contact with the pan, and given enough time, can "saw" a slot in the pan. NOT good; the engine has to come out of the truck if the pan needs replacement. Thing to do is to remove the cover and simply grind or snip or saw off that lip. It may have been done already, or some PO might have replaced it with the new cover from Ford, which does not have the lip.

Pretty nifty. So basically its just to ensure at a quick glance to see if anything is damaged?
What would be the cause if oil or fuel is leaking from there? To be honest, there is so much build up of something I would need a lab to say what it all is lol! I can tell the truck has been a work horse. It seems to have been treated very nicely though. It has just over 150k on it. Runs/starts flawlessly.
I'm sure with time, just like anything parts will need replacing...but that's just how to game is played I guess lol.
Thanks again for that knowledge and the continued knowledge!
Take care

Anything leaking on the top of the engine runs down a passage between the engine and tranny on the right (?) side, and ends up most visible right there. That's why the suggestion to look in the valley. Oil would prob. be something to do with the HPO, or possibly a valve cover leak. Fuel could be the filter housing, the pump, the soft lines between them, the banjo fitting on the pump, etc. It would prob. be easier to identify the leaking fluid from the top.

I just looked it up. It says its 4:10 gear.
Im really wondering if tge whole instrument cluster is off. When I have the front fuel tank on, the needle is way passed the F.
The engine temp seems to always be in the Cold reading instead of more centered.
The other stuff seems alright though...
