It helps maintain rail pressure when you run bigger HP tunes. Biggest benefit is better filtration.

I think they are worth the money on filtration alone. These fuel systems are picky about contaminants.

I ran an AD-150 on my 6.4. My buddy fabbed me up a piece so I could delete the stock HFCM. I would get the AD-165 and run a Caterpillar filter on it. They are made to replace the factory pump.

You better believe your buddies! I was having issues with stock pump om a 99 cummins. I asked a friend who has a 99 PSD about it, and he told me about Air Dog systems. He had one on his 99 and took me for a ride. Afterwards, we had a yakk session about it, and I was convinced! More HP, better throttle response, a bit better mpg, and no more mechanical issues. It was Easy to install on my dodge, and he told me the same for his PSD. I am a mechanic of 40+ years, and am not easily convinced about aftermarket stuff. My advice? Do your research.... Then get one. I would have spent $300 on the stock mechanical pump and filter. The Air Dog came with two filters, one for fuel, one water separator. I loved it.... It was a bit pricey at just under $600, but I felt worth it in the long run. Also, the folks at AirDog were very good to deal with and the warranty is good.

Only thing I miss about my 6.4 was the easy 585hp it made. It was fun, but the fuel mileage was average. I hated the way it towed. Felt gutless unless you were towing with big tunes. Doing that, you then worry about cracking pistons towing with big tunes, etc. Fuel mileage towing was always single digits. I really was impressed with where the 6.7 makes its power versus the 6.4. Fuel mileage is better unloaded and loaded. I don't plan on turning this truck up because it has a lot of limits. The 6.4 didn't and I couldn't risk getting bitten by the mod bug any harder. My 6.7 stays on the lowest HP tune Spartan has. All I need.

I would definitely get an Airdog or Fass. It will be my last mod on this 6.7 I currently drive.

UGA33, what Cat filter do you run on the AirDog unit. Have had the FASS unit on my Peterbilt (Caterpillar engine) for 5 years and would replace immediately if it went out. Had the engine rebuilt last year with 300,000 miles on the injectors and they said they looked new. No wear on the tips or needles. Looking to put a unit on my 6.4 psd now that warranty is up.
