5.0 to 6.0 questions

I'm thinking of putting a 6.0 from a 06 f350 in a 1996 f150 I know I have to beef up the suspension. I've used the search and didnt find any write-ups on gas to 6.0 swaps .I have a parts truck to use .I done swaps like this before I did a 1995 460 efi swap into a 1979 bronco.and found all the info needed from oldfuelinjection.com are there any sites like that for the 6.0 swaps

With the radiator and intercooler, I'm not sure it will fit. The mid 90s front end is shorter then the Superduty and the 6.0 is tucked in pretty tight.

Yeah me either, but I would love to see it. Obviously this kind of stuff is possible if you have deep enough pockets... Not sure if you are a UFC fan and know Matt Hughes, but below is a link to his truck.... Forgive me for posting a link to a Duramax...

an old saying comes to mind:

some things are unknown because nobody has ever gone there.
some things are unknown because nobody has ever returned.

an F150? that's right up there with the airstream motorhome conversion...

I know of a 6.0 in a Ranger truck down in Austin. Saw it at a diesel meet one year. Super sharp truck so I know you can get it in a 150. Gonna take some serious fab skills but at least Ford to Ford will give you lots of parts options.

You won't find many write-ups because usually guys are swapping the 6.0 out for something lol. It's only us die-hards that like it in other things . It can be done, like you said you'll have to beef up the suspension, get the tank changed or modify the current one to work with the 6.0 fuel pump, transfer the fuel system from the donor, build your custom radiator/intercooler/trans cooler mounts. IIRC you'll need a body lift (2"?) so that you can clear the turbo/exhaust at the firewall, or at least some serious body modifying....and these are just what I'm thinking of off the top of my head.

Don't mind the commentary, but this truck (I know it's an F350) is one of the nicest 6.0 swaps I've seen. I would LOVE to have this truck!

Edit: Come on, if these guys can put a 6.0 into a Honda Civic, an F150 shouldn't be that hard !!!

Sounds like a great project to me! As mentioned, may be some firewall mods in your future. I'd want the engine as far back and as low in the frame as practical. Maybe aftermarket on the fuel supply system and a good time to do a regulated return. Wiring is going to be some work. Keeping everything tidy and properly routed is likely to mean changing the legnth of most every harness, and there are some shielded conductors to worry with also. It's a good opprutunity to move the FICM away from the engine/turbo heat. Lots of work in the radiator support area getting the CAC and huge radiator to fix (a/c in the plans?). The hydroboost would be cool if you plan to tow with it also... PCM is going to need a VSS sensor input, not sure about retrofitting that to an early rear.

I'm sure I'm missing some stuff but lots of opprutunity to engineer some cool stuff and give the old 150 a serious horsepower/torque upgrade. I Would look closely at the donor engine to verify it's worthy of this kinda work though. Head studs and freshen up the HPO system before committing to the truck mods.

Good luck and keep us posted if you decide to do this swap, I would love to see pics along the way also.

There is a 6L fox body Mustang running around central IL, I would say an F150 is doable.
