2007 F-150 Transmission Shudder when Shifting

I recently purchased a 2007 F-150 4WD, 5.4L, Super Cab. After 3 days I noticed a shudder...thought I was going over a rumble strip....nope, could duplicate when shifting in 2nd or 3rd and loading the engine (up hill...etc.).

I took it to the dealer....said "maybe" flushing the fluid would help. Flushed the fluid, 300 bucks later, no help. The technician said "sometimes it's a cheap fix....if it doesn't fix it, then a new torque converter is needed, estimate to change...$1,600.00.

Has anyone experienced the same or similar?

I have a slight shudder in my '05. There is a product called Instant Shudder Fixx by Dr. Tranny that's supposed to perform small miracles. For $10 it's worth a try...No I haven't tried it yet. I just changed my fluid and filter about 2K miles ago. It looks to be the first change in 115K. (just bought the truck a few months ago). My shudder was a lot worse and was much better with the change. I plan on changing it out a few more times over the next few thousand miles because of no TC drain. Then I'll switch to full synthetic with another new filter.

So...Instant Shudder Fixx by Dr. Tranny....thanks. The dealer, of course, wants to replace my Torque Converter for $1,600.00. I have a good friend that I've known for a number of years that owns a repair shop. He says he can replace the converter and overhaul the tranni for about $1,500.00.

The dealer already flushed the fluid/system and installed synthetic...$300.00...no help yet, still shudders but they said give it a few hundred miles, it may loosen up and dislove the tarnish.

The $10 stuff seems worth a try. Thanks so much for your input. I'll ask my repair shop buddy about Dr. Tranny (...wonder if he's a cross dresser?)

I had a similar problem and with a full xmt service, it is better but still not 100%. There is a long discussion about this shudder problem in this forum and many suggest could be due to "low grade missfire". Since my truck is reaching the 100K km mark, I am thinking of getting the spark plug change and check the cops at the same time. The local dealer quote me around $500. The dealer also mentioned that they hardly ( or never ) have to replace the T/C because of the shuddering.

It's the torque converter... you can try the fluid bandaid. But be prepared to get your buddy to change the torque converter no need to overhaul tranny if no other problems...

How many miles on the truck? It could be misfiring.
