Is the following appropriate for BARO:

Mode/PID: 221442
Long name:BARO
Short name: BARO

Unit: psi
Equation: ((A*256)+B)/4.01463133)*0.145038

I found the formula on another website and it gives me a KOEO reading of 14.3

Never seen this before but I plugged it in and tested it on a 2001 e350 and it worked just fine. Nice find. Way better than relying on baro voltage or your phones sensor.

David, before you go throwing parts at your truck try cleaning the EBP sensor and tube. When you get the tube apart be sure to clean the threaded portion that goes into the manifold too. If you need help with that job there a bunch of write ups on it if you use the search tool. Good luck with that.

That's probably pretty close. Standard pressure at sea level is 14.7 psi. It varies with weather, and will get lower as altitude increases. I'ma try it on my truck now, too

The BARO is an uber-boring gauge - it just shows altitude. If you have 20 PSI on BARO, you are driving in a cavern near the bottom of an oil well. If you have 0 PSI, you're 4-wheeling on the moon. If you really want to see the needle move on the BARO gauge, set the minimum for 10 PSI and the maximum for 15 PSI... unless you have the tunneling mod or the booster rocket mod.

It may be boring but the PCM uses that sensor, not the one on my phone so I'd like to at least be able to see it. The IVS switch would be pretty boring too, but being able to see its state would come in handy for troubleshooting.

I'm going to go out on a limb and ask - aren't many functions controlled by the PCM dependent on the measured BARO such that we would want to confirm that the sensor is working?

If so, I thought I read somewhere that at KOEO, the BARO should read the same as the intake manifold pressure and EBP.

I'm stepping outside my comfort zone but I thought I would ask.

By all means, look at it when troubleshooting - but it's a real snore to watch while driving... unless you're truck has a parachute and you drive out the back of a C117. If you drive from the mountains near Denver, CO, to Portland, OR... you will see a difference of maybe 5 PSI - over the course of two days of driving. That's the only point I wanted to make.

My truck was 630ft above sea level when I got the 14.3 psia reading (at about 85F).

I found a chart on the internet that seems to substantiate my result (and may prove helpful for others at a later time):

Now if I can only figure out why Torque triggers my SES light every time I try to read fault codes. It's not unique to my Torque hardware/software as Trey got the same result (SES light) when he tried pulling codes with his tablet/adapter. I thought I read somewhere on the Torque BHP forums that the pre-2002 Powerstrokes had this problem and the Torque software developer didn't have a workaround. Thoughts anyone???

I "think" you are correct... no workaround. I have AE for my real troubleshooting. Torque is good for seeing and logging the usual suspects, but it's not a shop powerhouse (yet).

The SES light stays on after reading codes for me too. The workaround I use is simply to cycle the key after pulling the codes and the SES light goes away.

Would this work for Torque. The only thing I don't see is Bluetooth. I think I remember Rich saying I you could do it through WIFI???

From what I remember reading, there are hoops to jump through to use a Wi-Fi OBD adapter with an Android device. I think the device needs to be rooted and some of the system config files edited to allow ad-hoc Wi-Fi connections. If there's a Wi-Fi adapter out there that operates in access point mode it would probably work right out of the box, but I don't know if such a device exists yet. The OBDLink MX Wi-Fi version is supposed to fulfill the requirement, but last I knew it was still in beta with no firm release date. Gonna be fairly pricey too.

I wonder if it just doesn't show Bluetooth. Like I read earlier its 2014 right?

Anyone have experience with this tablet?

There are still a lot of the less expensive tablets out there without bluetooth. It's proprietary, and the technology has to be licensed to use it.
