Jim do you deal with Canadians. I'm gonna have to do my uppipes soon and shipping is always the killer. I'm close to the border so I can always go across plus I think I can get my grubbies on a spare set for the core. It's either that or I run to bd and see if they can get a set in for me

Just to be clear, that price was for install only. And Southern CA isn't "outrageous". Gas prices are the same by a few cents and other needs/amenities are about the same. I spent a year in Texas and the only thing that was cheaper was buying a home. Food, fuel, living, etc were all comparable. 10-15 years ago, that may have been true, but inflation is a global problem, not just a CA problem. Yeah, I love my state and my home, as broke as they may be....but other states aren't far behind.

Things must have changed. When I first got married I was stationed at El Toro and our dink 1 bedroom crappy apartment in Tustin area was $740.00 a month. Same place where I grew up in NY would have only been $350.00 a month. Other than that, fuel was 30 cents more a gallon. We didnt notice much other price difference except for when I was coming up on my initial EAS we considered staying in Irvine area and looked at some condos and townhouses. Ragged out gutted ones where $70,000+ and I couldn't afford that so I re-up'd. That was back in 1994.

Yeah, so '94 would be 20 years ago. Sounds about right. It used to be that fuel was almost 50-60% more here, but that slowly began to change about 7-8 years ago. It's a little more pricey here, but nothin that breaks the bank. For example, when I registered my Dodge a few years ago, it was 300 bucks. Went to Texas and had to reregister. I got all excited thinking it would be 60 bucks or so...nope...290 bills. Anyway....
