Looks to be a very sound project vehicle. Color looks to be Sea Haze Green.

Agreed. Just looks like the color on the truck is much lighter. I do agree that Sea Haze Green is the only one in the realm of what was offered and what can still be seen on the truck. Got all the gauges and everything out of the cab tonight. Removed steering column and trying to get the steering box to release but having a time. Soaking in PB Blaster over night and will address again tomorrow after work.

Alrighty guys!!!! Got a couple of questions for my next move. Got cab and parts off the the sand blaster. He has a little of back time so hopefully will have then back in a month or so. While he has all the body parts figured I could start on my suspension.
Rear - Was planning on keeping the factory style set-up. I have a 9" rear mounted below the factory springs. My plan is to do a complete overall with all new shocks, bolts, leaf springs, and everything. I would like to have a 5" drop overall. I have hear of removing a few springs, to drop shackles, and to using a different type of spring altogether. I have also head of mounting springs under axle? What is the best way to get a good 5" drop. I am planning on having 17" smoothie with a small whitewall.
Axle - I am planning on pulling axles and doing a once over service job as I have not had any issues with it. I will then do a change to slotted disc brake conversion instead of keeping the drums. I have seen the kits on ebay and JEGS sells them. What is the best brand to get or which ones have you installed and any issues anybody run into.
Thanks for all the help guys I will load some more pics of progress here in a little bit.

Mitchell, welcome. I am no guru, but there was an interesting thread recently about lowering trucks. I learned there that the axle on top of the springs is not the best way. Wish I had read that before i changed my Dana 44 to a 8.8, both of which were on top of the springs. There is little room for suspension movement. Especially with the 8.8 thicker than the Dana 44. There are several leaves taken out of the spring, it has 5 I think, now, and does sit somewhat lower than stock, although it was actually raised about an inch and a half for clearance for the back axle/suspension.
In the picture below the tyres are 30 inches tall, and I have since raised it about 1 1/2 inches for axle clearance. I would like it to be lower, I guess all in all, fitting a new axle on top of the springs again wasn't real bright. That was my chance to sort it out. However the axle on the spring is commonlly suggested here as a good way to go. It may be so, if you do not lower the truck anymore than by that method.
No doubt someone will be able to give you more info soon.
