Is there really a new tool that must be downloaded here (FTE) to view PM's or is this something like spam?
I have gotten this message several times recently. If it is legit, PM'ers, give me time to deal with the download and I will get back to you.

 

From what you describe, it's spam.

Nothing special to view PMs.

I have not heard about anything like this. I WOULD NOT download anything.

David, what exactly is popping up on your screen? Can you get a screen shot of it and post it here?

It is an advertisement. It shows up under the search banner and on the left side of the screen beside the posts.

 

Thomabb is right. I have not seen it again.
