How much fuel does it take to run your 6.0/7.3 EX.....
For a month? Has anyone logged their fuel consumption for the year? Ever since I decided to buy an Ex, I've been watching the cost of diesel and yesterday it was $4.20 in (06811).
I live 1.2 miles from work and I figure extra around town driving would equal about 100/150 miles a month +/- . I don't for seeing to exceed 5000 miles a year.
Thank you for your feed back....

I moved shortly after buying my first 7.3 diesel. I relocated close to work. I am sure mine would barely warm up in my 3.5 mile drive. And after a month of that it really equal ed some crummy mpg. I was pulling a trailer up and down hills so maybe I was a rare case. I really think diesels take longer to warm up. And they just aren't as efficient until they do. Just my 2...

I do not daily drive my 6l Ex, but it does get around. I use about 35 gallons a month on average. The 6l really shines on those long trips. Any "running around town" miles I do in the Ex, really kills the Economy. Until it really warms up, I usually see 10-13 MPH on the lie-o-meter. After the block is up to temp, it usually averages to about 16MPH. Not hand calculated, just referring to the meter.

to the OP
I have a V-10 now...but I used to have a 6.0 CrewCab F-250 that weighed almost as much as a PSD Excursion. Lifted on 35" tires
I commute 8-10 miles per day. The PSD barely got warmed up to 160F before I was in the parking lot.
commuting MPG was 11 to 12.5 mpg. I filled up about once per month and only put 7,000 miles on the truck in a 2yr time period. Same truck got about 17mpg highway
keep in mind that truck had a 26 gallon tank, and an Excursion has a 44 gallon tank. With the same commute, I now drive the V-10 X and fill up about every 1 to 1.5 months. And the V-10 gets 9 MPG
just throwing it out there that you might want to look into a V-10 X. It'll be cheaper to purchase, cheaper to maintain...and the PSD motor really really hates short trips. it's just not good for them
