6.0l factory block heater

I have heard through the FTE grape vine that Ford installed a block heater on all 6.0's (mine is an 07) from the factory but didn't supply the power cord. If anyone knows this to be true could you please point me in the direction of the heater, I have not spent a lot of time looking my engine over, just doing the usual service work ie: oil changes and fuel filter changes so I really don't know just where to look and see if my engine does have a block heater already installed. If there is one there I would get a cord for it and put it to use as needed. TFAI.

It's on the passenger side last freeze plug just above the starter. The bean counters decided they could save some money by not installing the cords on every truck. You can typically get one for about $15.

Block heater cord:

international: ZBL3600008
Zerostart: 706051
Ford: 5C3Z-6B018-DA

Thanks for the fast reply, I'll check and see what it looks like and order a cord for it asap.

$15?!? That's it?

Think I'll head to the dealer this weekend or next and pick one up for my '05 Excursion.

I think I heard someone on here the other day say they found one on Amazon for like $11. I think I will try to get my hands on one as well.

I think the $15 is the Zerex part price. The Ford part is substantially more!

I got mine at OReileys.

yeah Ford's is like $75 or something... IF I recall correctly and I have commercial account with them.. It's a 2 part harness assembly and the orange end with metal band gets pushed into the heater and then make sure it's not in danger of exhaust or tire etc. zip tying if needed.

I went ahead and paid for the Ford unit when I did mine ($105 at my local dealer before I knew of Tousley/Sunrise), it's fully wrapped in plastic and has the hold-down pins to keep it stable......kind of a b*#&@ to run though.

Are the ends that connect to the heater universal? or do I need to have a part number from one of the three mentioned for instance to cross at the local aftermarket parts stores?

I check at the ford number with AutoNation and it came up to $86.59 but I believe that included the heater itself along with the cord, if the cords are universal I have seen them on Amazon for around $12 bucks for a 6 footer and $ 16 for a ten footer.
