I haven't been out yet today, but my road was a sheet of ice last night. It couldn't have gotten better. The first night all the roads were covered in Lexington, I found a nice commuter parking lot with tall fences and no poles. No one could see me and I had a blast. I didn't know my open diff F-150 could do donuts as tight as it could. My rear end was practically just circling my engine. I had a good reason to be out playing too. This is my first winter with this truck and needed to know how it handled in slick conditions so I could be safer on the main roads. At least that is what I would have told a cop if any had shown up.
A friend of mine did that while mudding at one of the Steel Soldier MV rallies. They had to use an M816 wrecker to roll him back upright. M35's are tough. All he had to do was make sure none of the fluids leaked out and fired it back up. Of course there was some damage down the right side, but it was mostly cosmetic.
John do you remember back in '93 when they shut 75 down for a day or so... turned the mall into a parking lot for semi's. I had visited the mall around 2am on back end between Macy's and Penny's, me and a buddy played spin for about an hour and a half. To the point we had an empty can that we were playing slide hockey with. Funny thing we had just filled my T-bird up right before we did that and the attendant at BP was scratching his head when I filled up again 2 hours later. Takes a lot to make me pucker when driving in snow now after the play time I had when younger.
There was a good 6" of snow from the first round and another 1-2" this morning. The ole Danger Ranger has been kicked out of a couple plazas and the local park so far. What can I say? Being a teenager with a donut machine is fun
Once I fixed my truck where it wouldnt gel up, it became a freakin tank. I'm not sure besides the length and the tranmission if anything else is different between my lwb and swb but the swb feels unstoppable.
We had a cancellation for this weekend. Looks like a little free time. Maybe I can get my cooling system installed and get ready for a first re-fire of the engine. I'm looking forward to hearing the little flathead run again.
A real sidekick!! I first thought you got another vehicle and named it Daffiny! If that was the case, I was going to ask the meaning behind it! "I still laugh at Michelle!"
