Ok, what did I do? nav says 'No GPS' - cut the antenna wire - doah

if you were following, I got and installed an Airlift Wireless One and Viair 10007 on board air kit on my 12 dually. finished the OBA kit on Tuesday.

I ran the wires to the compressor thru plastic conduit, up thru the passenger side over the main harness connections behind the battery, over the top of the engine, and to the left side battery (with appropriate fuses).

the control signal is connected to upfitter 1. first wires connected there.
man they are hard to connect to.. getting off the covering and crimping the wires.

only wires in the cab were the passthru wire and the upfitter end, now connected.

but my Nav head now says No GPS all the time.

the only similar topics I found on FTE were related to installing a new nav unit, and not getting the antenna seated.. I didn't touch anything behind the dash.

edit: hoping it was some electrical interference I pulled the fuse on the hot lead across the top of the engine. no change.

Would it have been possible to pull the antenna wire slightly and disconnect the wire from the back of the radio??? That would be my only guess since you were under the dash -

I hope it is something that simple - good luck!

I don't 'think' there is any potential to disturb the antenna connection on the nav unit by fiddling with the upfitter wires..

but I shall go look.

Man...I got nothing other than the obvious of cutting, nicking, pulling (accidentally of course) a wire to the back of the nav unit. Sorry.

thanks.. the only 'cut' inside the cab was the tape around the blunt cut wire bundle, which includes the 4 passthru wires. that harness goes out the firewall.

the upfitter wires were not taped.

did I mention I hate coincidences like this.

Sam, have you tried to re-boot the truck? Disconnect the bats for a few mins and see if the radio resets?

A simpler solution is to just pull the stereo fuse, that way you don't reset the truck computer also.

Subscribing. I guess the mytouch does not have a reboot button on there anyway like a ipod or a hand held GPS.

pulling the fuse (kick panel, #20) disabled the nav screen (and gps/sync) as expected.

unfortunately didn't solve the No GPS problem.

I am working a temp assignment out of town so can't take the truck to the dealer. (they don't have anyone to work on it today anyhow).
they suggested the master rest on the nav (have to find that)
or disconnect the batteries.

Have you sworn at it? I'm a firm believer in this methodology. It hasn't worked to fix anything yet, but it often helps me actually fix what is wrong

That is usually where I start and you would be surprised at how much of my finest swearing that some of these inanimate objects can take!

In all seriousness, it only takes about 2 minutes to pull the dash panel and remove the head unit to take a look at the back. The satellite antenna wire connection is pretty lame and it wouldn't take much to yank it loose.

Is the SD card still installed correctly?

I got a no NAV message a couple of months ago and it turned out the SD card had come loose.

Ok, I pulled the head unit out of the dash.. all of the connectors are lock type except for the radio antenna.. I unhooked them and reseated.. no change..

anyone know where the GPS antenna module is?
