I remember what SH looked like before the eruption............A real reminder that the earth can wipe us out anytime she has a mind to.
If any of the 3 Sisters go up...........I probably won't be posting anymore......ever.

Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 52.3, overcast and some scattered showers.
I was in this area in a Patrol Car when Mt. St. Helens blew. Buddy of mine, also on Patrol, didn't feel it, but we saw this large plume of smoke and ash rising into the air a long ways off to the N-NE. We were hoping Portland had been nuked by the rooskies, but alas, the radio was telling us we weren't that lucky.
Mom & Dad got stranded for 5 days at the Grant County Fairgrounds in Moses Lake with several horses. I got activated by the OANG to assist **** and flown up there the next morning. Kept us in a containment area overnight waiting for a SAR or Property Protection Mission, but nothing happened and they sent all of the OANG contingent home the next morning.

Myself and a buddy made one trip down into Spirit Lake a couple of years ago after taking the South Route up through Cougar and fighting our way through the road reconstruction north of the Lava Tubes. It was a 45 minute trip down the mountain side to the lake and a 3 hour trip back to the parking lot on Windy Ridge. One heck of a steep hike. Lake is still 1/2 covered in logs.
The cabin my dad stayed at on the River just below the lake in the late 40's, early 50's when he was working up there might possibly still be there. The rangers told us it might be difficult to get to though as where it is located is under about 400' of ash and mud.

Mt. St. Helens a couple of years ago when it was still "dome building".
This pic was taken from roughly the spot where Johnston was taking pictures and radio'd in from at the time of the explosions. (The time lapses you see where the bulge is bulging out into the catastrophic explosion.) As you can see, he was looking right into the "barrel of the cannon".

Finally was able to get online.......The site had a "Database" error.
Made it to Don's place this afternoon.....Good trip, Truck ran well, Trailer behaved and I only drank-up a million dollars of diesel fuel......
I have really enjoyed meeting Don and Haley. Great Fun swapping sea stories.
You folks in Oregon have one heck of a sharp sensible Patriot here.
We will leave sometime in the morning for Prineville Reservoir State Park.

Good morning Oregon FTE gang and friends.
I got the new starter installed in the boat yesterday. I also got some other parts ordered. I'll get them installed tonight. I need fuel for the boat and then I can load everything up and get ready.

Morning Oregon and friends! Had a blast meeting Roy, Lynn, and their beautiful granddaughter! Meeting people like this helps restore my faith in this country. We need more folks like this to help set this country straight.
Talked to the sheriff last night and he will be having a "talk" with the idiot that confronted me the other day. He will be informed that if we see him riding his baby on his 4 wheeler again he'll be going to jail. Mission accomplished!
Now I need to get Melody up and make me breakfast so I can go visit with Roy before they leave. Great people and damn glad I've got to meet them and call them friends....
