I heard they actually gave UO campus cops firearms for the first time.............bet some of them wind up missing some toes.

There is just me and the wife and nobody seems to visit anymore so why bother is what we thought.

Probably not. The officers that are armed are sworn police officers that have gone through the State Academy right along side of other Municipal, County and State Officers and through the same firearms training program as any other LEO in the state.
