Key in start no crank

A month ago get in truck try to start glow plugs fuel pump everything sound looks ok turn the rest of way to start position NOTHING no click dash looks ok lights gauges don't jump or act erratic jheadlights bright and steady, but I am turning key and then wiggling shifter, Key in and out and try again 6 times. Year old batteries cant figure. I tried taking key out on and off positions and jiggling the shifter no luck. Buddy had a hot box hooked it up started easy. Got home checked alt output 13.65. Checked Batt this am after all night 12.55 and 12.6, didn't have a load tester. Checked fuses and all except cig lighter and trailer were good.
Ok could not reproduce the no start keep driving now fri night turn key nothing, no crank no click. Check all fuses all good. No codes. Jump does not start and battery is 12.4 . So figure dead spot in starter. Replace starter turn key still nothing . Check fuses again.and codes, Nothing . Replaced starter relay on fuse panel in cab. Removed the fan clutch connector to see if that helped no joy and also checked shifter switch on firewall in cab was not loose. Does not turn over in neutral Can start truck jumping starter solenoid(yellow wire with blue stripe on passenger side) with key in on position. I believe key switch is good because it is energizing the starter relay but not making it to starter. I am lost as to where to look next any suggestions?

Not a lot of help but an important piece of info is that the PCM can inhibit the start (crank) by lifting the ground to the starter relay in the fuse box. You might want to verify the ground is present. If not, the PCM is seeing some reason to not allow cranking. I'm not sure of the conditions that must be met for this to happen.

Are you running a tuner on this truck?

Hold on there Young'un, you stated your Cig lighter fuse was blown. Did you replace it???????
FYI. The Cigarette Lighter and the OBD II plug are on the same circuit. If you did not replace the fuse your OBD II port is not getting any power to run your tuner. If you haven't already done so replace the fuse and see how you like it.
if this is the fix it is because you gave a lot of information to work with. Good Luck. TIM

Disconnected tuner no joy. Cig lighter Fuse was replaced a month ago, also a week ago discovered the trailer turn stop signal fuse blown, replaced as well. Have been using OBD port to run Scan Gauge II for my code checking(Christmas present to self). Gonna try the removing ground from battery.

Shoot, thought this was gonna be an easy one. Do you have an Alarm on the truck that disables the starter motor???????
Did you return the truck to stock program before removing tuner??? I'm not a tuner guy, that might be a dumb question.
what kind of tuner is it? ? I believe the fuse in question is a 15 amp fuse and to pop one of those is alarming

Ok chased the wiring diagram could not find break. Went to fuse block and checked connections found it was comming from key and going out seliod but not to starter. Was looking at this black box spliced into power supply from fuse box to starter. It was dead at that point. Jumped it and starter turned. Cut it out and all is well. I am second owner of truck did not know that was an aftermarket part. Showed to friend and he thought it was a alchol lock out cause it had a pin plug coming from it mounted to bottom of dash. Did not look like any remote start he had seen. Thank you for all the help turns out it was a aftermarket alarm/remote/drunk switch(now has a few 45 holes in it)!! Happy New Year

no crank - starter jump at starter - fires up every time

My 2006 will not crank mostly after running for a while - on occasion cold - will not crank - jumping the starter fires every time. No issues after sometimes for days. wire jump on passenger side no start but at starter - jump - starts every time.

Intake - banks - exhaust - 5 inch - chip tuner - bullet proof - new ficm - injectors - coolers and more. Problem started about 6 months after build.

I have the same problem. 2002 7.3l, after a few tries it sometimes engages and will run. Drove it then parked and shut it down. Restarted it several times, next morning just a click. If I throw 200 amps to it I normally can get it to go after just a couple of tries. Would the extra juice be forcing the solenoid to work?

You may have better luck getting an answer in the 7.3L forum.
Right not you have this posted in the 6.0L forum.
