OT Feeling Down

My wife and I have had my worst and scariest Christmas experience of our lives . Late on the evening of December 25th our son Ian who has been battling depression for a number of years , attempted once again to take his own life . I don't know why i'm telling you guys this other than I feel the need to talk to or at least tell my problems to someone . Thanks for listening

Sorry to hear of your son's challenges. Sometimes no matter how much we as parents might want, we cannot make all of our children's lives better. I sympathize with your heartache and I'm glad you could share a personal pain with this supportive group. Thoughts and best wishes.

That is why we are here... this site is not just about Ford Trucks is it? I believe those of us here for a long time are very close and the newbies sense it and join in quickly. I have already said a prayer for you and your son. Hang in there!

Depression is a horrible condition, but can often be treated medically.

Unfortunately, for some reason the holiday season amplifies these feelings for a lot of folks.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Allan, Depression is an ugly beast that seems to rear its head even higher during the holiday season. Talking about it is the first step for all involved. Professional counseling is always a good thing. We will keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers.

It seems to help to be able to vent or release to someone. We're a supportive group here with a group of caring and understanding people.

Good luck with your son.

Allan,
I'm terribly sorry to here about your son's condition and your horrible Christmas. My thoughts and prayers to you and your family and I sure hope you can get your son the help he needs.

My nephew ended his life a couple of years ago. It is a horrific thing that has long reaching effects. People are healing but its a long slow process. I pray that you can find the help before such a tragedy occurs.

Don't be bashful about wanting to talk. You're surrounded by friends here and there's more to us than just the love of trucks. If you'd like or need to get it off your chest you can send me an email. bobbytnm@msn.com

Take care
Bobby

Thanks Bobby

I'm sorry to hear about your sons (and your problem). Does he admit that he has a problem? It's a long hard road... He needs all the help and support you can give him. Our preys go out to him you and your family... You need to talk it out or else it will eat you alive... I'm glad you are trying to deal with it.

Allan, I'm praying for Ian, you and your family. Depression is tough.
Over time we have mourned the loss of fellow members, prayed through sickness and troubles, celebrated success and life events all with people many of us have never met in person. We are family here and we want to support you as best we can. Don't hesitate to post if you need anything or just to vent.

Allan, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. You did the right thing and I commend you for having the courage to discuss mental health issues. It is much more open these days to talk about. The holidays are a tough time for those battling depression. I hope your son will fight as hard as he can to find the right balance of medication and counseling to put his life back in order. I'm sure there are support groups for families as well. Talking about it with others is one of the best things you can do. We are listening. Stay strong!
