Yes Steve, I'm keeping the three on the tree.

So here's an update; I ended going with the rack and pinion kit, as the basic PS kit would not allow me to keep my three on the tree. The R&P had its challenges in keeping my OEM column shifter, but my mechanic figured it out, even though the manufacture of the kit told him there was no way in making that work. Never challenge my guy, as it only motivates him more. Well, the project is complete. I now have a nice steering set up, and kept my shifter on the tree. Next will probably be disc brakes.

Which R&P kit? is it the one that mounts the rack on the beam axle? Can you post pictures of the final setup?

turnrjr is starting off with a positive reputation.
Thanks for the update. Very interesting. Is that a fabricated bracket on the fire wall to support the steering column?

Yes, my mechanic had to fabricate some items to keep the shifter on the column. He's doing a write up for the manufacturer of the kit. I'll share it as soon as I get a copy.

What a differance, not only in the ease of steering, but how it's streight on the road.
