7.3l turbo on 6.9l

Hmmmm.... This is interesting. The turbo you got is off of a 7.3 DI. There really is no electronic signal to the turbo. I would suggest you delete the EBPV because you will have nothing to signal it to operate. I deleted the one on my 96 and have no problems. You can buy a delete pedestal from guys like Beans diesel performance or you can gut and plug the one you got. There are plenty of threads out there to walk you through it.
That turbo has an oil inlet and outlet to cool the bushings on the impellers. I don't know how you will plumb that in because it is just a port that seals with an O ring. Maybe diesel Brad will chime in with his knowledge. He knows a little about this stuff.

Once you have solved those issues, don't try going over 10PSI, or you could end up popping head gaskets. Those 7/16" head bolts won't hold much more than that.....
The 6.9 was a great engine, but the weak-ish head bolts and early block castings that tend to crack around the block heater were it's weak points. These were resolved by the time it was turned into a 7.3, only to be replaced with thin-ish cyl walls.

Here's some info. Looks like it doesn't work too good.

By they way, there are ports on the idi engine for oiling the turbo. I believe there is a drain on one of the corners of the head. Turbos are installed on these engines all the time, just not a powerstroke turbo.

Bruno2---what ive seen people do is hook up a toggle switch and operate the ebpv that way. I just wondered if anyone has actully done it on an idi.. also I have milled me a small piece that is the same size and demintion as the factory oil outlut bracket piece. I have use two brake likes and tapped both in and out. I took one to a hole in my heads than the other I ran to the pan. Nothin is leakin yet.
